Porter Leads NU in Missouri Tournament

St. Louis, Mo. --The Nebraska men's golf team finished 12th at the Purina Challenge in St. Louis. Sophomore Seth Porter led the Huskers, finishing tied with Louisiana-Lafayette's Richard Ainley for second overall, just one shot behind Kansas's Ryan Vermeer. Vermeer is currently ranked as the number six golfer in the country by Golfweek magazine.

Porter shot a three round total of 208 with a 70 and a 68 in the first two rounds on Monday and followed it up with a score of 70 in the final round held Tuesday morning. Vermeer finished at 207 with scores of 72, 67 and 68 in the three-round tournament.

The Huskers shot a team total 881, with scores of 294, 290 and 297 in the respective three rounds.

The Big Red is next in action at The Nelson Invitational in Stanford, Calif., from Oct. 29-31. The Nelson will be the Husker's final tournament of the fall season.
