Baltimore, Md.-- Senior Sandra Noetzel got off on the right foot at the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships Main Draw upsetting 7th-seeded Erica Perkins of Washington State 6-2, 6-1, today at the Suburban Club of Baltimore County. Noetzel now moves on to the round of 16 and will play at 8:30 a.m. (CDT). The opponent has yet to be determined.
In the ITA national rankings that were released today, Perkins was slated at 23 and Noetzel at 51. The ranking of 51st is the highest national ranking in school history for an individual.
