Rogers, Ark. -- Despite battling rains that forced the second round to be canceled, the Nebraska women's golf team shot rounds of 298 and 306 to finish in first place at the Lady Razorback Invitational at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark., Tuesday afternoon. The victory marks the first time the Huskers have won back-to-back tournaments since the 1989-90 campaign when Nebraska won the Rio Rico-Hawkeye Invitational (Iowa City, Iowa) and the Missouri Invitational (Columbia, Mo.). Last week, the Huskers won the Big 12 Fall Preview by nine strokes at The Country of Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb.
The Huskers, who placed four golfers in the top 10, were led by junior Amy Roux (Kearney, Neb.) and sophomore Sarah Sasse (Lincoln, Neb.), who both fired scores of 150, six strokes behind leader Angie Yoon of Nevada.
Senior Elizabeth Bahensky (Kearney, Neb.) finished with a score of 153, with rounds of 73 and 80, good for a share of ninth place. Freshman Amanda Krane also fired a 153, with rounds of 79 and 74. Sophomore Catha Fogelberg (Helsingborg, Sweden) rounded out the Husker lineup with a score of 160.
The Huskers will next travel to Boulder, Colo., on Sept. 27-28 for the University of Colorado Invitational. Nebraska won the inaugural Colorado Invitational in 1997 by 22 strokes.
