Memorial Stadium Tour Information

Lincoln -- The athletic department will be conducting tours of the Memorial Stadium Skybox and Media Facility in conjunction with Homecoming activities the week of Oct. 3-7.

Previously, the athletic department had tentatively discussed having the tours before the start of season. But in order to give the construction crews ample time to put the finishing touches on the facility, and to pair with Homecoming festivities, the tours of the new facility will be held the week of the Iowa State game (Oct. 3-7). The facility is expected to be ready for occupancy on Sept. 1, and the athletic department will utilize the first two weeks of September to physically move into the new facility.

Director of Athletics Bill Byrne said, "While the facility will be done on schedule, our staff will need those two weeks to prepare for the first home game. We feel that Homecoming Week is an excellent time to open our doors and show everyone our beautiful facility. It is really something that all Nebraskans can be proud of and we are certainly looking forward to having our fans come be our guests."

Also in conjunction with Homecoming activities, the University students, faculty and staff will be invited to a new Homecoming tradition called "Tailgate on the Turf." Free food, prizes and entertainment will be provided in the Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 7. On that day, University students and staff will be invited to tour the facility as well. Several of the athletic head coaches will be guest speakers, including Head Coach Frank Solich. The evening is sponsored by the athletic department in conjunction with Homecoming and UNL Housing.

More details on the tours will be provided at a later date.
