Lincoln - NU senior outfielder Erik Mumm and junior shortstop Brandt Vlieger were one of 10 players named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-America District VII baseball team on Wednesday.
Mumm, a senior from Kearney, was chosen to the team for the third straight season, the first time a Husker has been selected to the team for three consecutive years. Mumm, who owns a 3.847 grade-point average in Mechanical Engineering, is hitting a career-best .379 and has played in 36 games. He has a career-high 22 hits, 27 doubles and seven doubles.
Vlieger, who owns a 3.25 GPA in Social Sciences, has started 48 games at short for Nebraska this year. He owns a .341 batting average and is second on the team in hits with 59. He has 13 stolen bases
