Lincoln -The No. 66 Nebraska men's tennis team kicks off a busy spring break when they travel to Monroe, La., for a 1 p.m. match with Northeast Louisiana March 14.
The Northeast Louisiana match marks the beginning of a tough stretch for the the Huskers (4-6 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12 Conference), who will play five matches in seven days on the road. Nebraska faces No. 73 Old Dominion March 16, Richmond March 17, Yale March 20, and No. 73San Diego March 21.
Despite the hectic schedule, NU Coach Kerry McDermott said, the Huskers are looking forward to the stretch and will use it to try to even out their record and prepare for a full slate of Big 12 action in April.
Specifically, McDermott would like to see a few more wins out of bottom half of the lineup, which currently owns a combined 13-17 mark. McDermott has continued to shuffled Andrew Wiese, Kai Rieke and Roshan Fernando around, looking for the right combination at the Nos. 4-6 spots. The bottom half of the lineup has been less productive, in part, because of an injury to Juan Hamdan. The previous No. 4 singles player, Hamdan dislocated his shoulder two weeks ago in NU's 4-3 win over Texas Tech. McDermott does not know when Hamdan will return to the lineup.
