Huskers Earn No. 5 Seed in Big 12 Tournament After 60-57 Win

Stillwater, Okla. -- Nicole Kubik led a second-half comeback as the Huskers evened its Big 12 record with a 60-57 victory over Oklahoma State Saturday evening in Stillwater, Okla.

Kubik scored 13 of 21 points after halftime as the Huskers (19-10, 8-8 Big 12) as the Huskers rallied from a 30-25 halftime deficit in winning for the first time in Stillwater since a 75-70 victory on Jan. 22, 1986.

Trailing by as many as six points in the second half, sophomore Amanda Went's jumper with 2:29 remaining broke a 53-all tie and the Huskers held on to win its second straight contest.

Trailing 58-57, the Cowgirls had an opportunity to win the game, but Kubik stole the ball from Nikki Harmon and iced the game with a pair of four shots with 16 seconds remaining.

Kubik, who also finished with five steals, was joined in double figures by senior Monet Williams, who added 11 points and five rebounds, while junior Brooke Schwartz chipped in seven points and six assists.

Jennifer Crow led all scorers with 23 points, but scored just seven after halftime. Megan Gregg also finished with 11 points for Oklahoma State, which dropped to 12-14 overall, 4-12 in the Big 12.

With the win, the Huskers earned the fifth seed in next week's Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, Mo., and will face Texas A&M this Tuesday, March 2 at 2:20 p.m.
