Nebraska Looks to Rebound in Home Opener

Lincoln - The Nebraska women's tennis team is looking to bounce back from last week's tough loss at Iowa. The Huskers open their home season on Friday night, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. against Drake. At 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nebraska takes on Wyoming. Both matches will be played at the Woods Tennis Center.

Head Coach Scott Jacobson has seen a better mindset from his players this week after the loss, especially from junior Sandra Noetzel.

"Sandra's mentallity has really been exceptional after a tough loss last week," Jacobson said. "Her mindset and focus in practice is the best I have ever seen from her."

In it's only match of the season, Drake was defeated 6-3 by Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 6. Last year, in Des Moines, Nebraska defeated Drake 7-2.

On the year, Wyoming is 1-3, dropping matches to New Mexico State (9-0) and UTEP (8-1) last weekend.

"We are expeceting two teally tough duels this weekend," Jacobson said. "I think both teams are better than Soutwest Missouri, but not quite as good as Iowa, so it will be a good test for us."

Nebraska will be without the services of freshman Riva Wig. Wig inured her knee during the preseason, and Jacobson is unsure when she will return.
