Hamilton Earns Big 12 Honors

Dallas - For the second straight week, Nebraska senior Venson Hamilton has been a steady force in leading the Huskers to four straight wins. This past week the center averaged 17.0 points and 13.5 rebounds and shot 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from the field in being named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week. In the 96-81 win at Oklahoma last Wednesday, Hamilton scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds, five blocked shots, and three steals. In the 72-55 win versus Colorado, Hamilton pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds and scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting along with three blocked shots.

Hamilton is averaging 11.6 rebounds in his last 10 games and 11.2 boards in six Big 12 contests. He's averaging 14.3 points this season including a 16.7 points in conference play. Hamilton's 44 blocked shots this season already rank 11th on the single-season list at Nebraska and his 1,169 career points currently stand 15th on the school list. He is 59 rebounds from becoming only the third player at a Big 12 school to record 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds, and 200 career blocked shots (Danny Manning of Kansas; Wayman Tisdale of Oklahoma; Byron Houston of Oklahoma State).
