Ft. Collins, Colo. (AP) Andre McKanstry scored a career-high 24 points as Colorado State held Nebraska without a field goal for nearly 11 minutes in the second half to post a 75-49 victory Saturday night.
Nebraska (6-4) saw its three-game winning streak snapped.
Larry Florence scored 17 points and Venson Hamilton had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Nebraska, which had beaten CSU four-straight times including a 91-83 victory in the 1996 NIT. Nebraska played without second-leading scorer Cookie Belcher, who was benched with a lower back strain and missed his first game in 74 starts.
Trailing 36-26 at halftime, Nebraska didn't hit a field goal for 10 minutes and 57 seconds when Hamilton ended the team's 0-for-10 shooting slump with a driving layup. Meanwhile, Colorado State (7-2) went on a 21-10 run to lead 57-36.
McKanstry scored 14 of his points in the second half. Teammate Milt Palacio scored 17 points in the game.
The game was tied 7-7 four minutes into the game with Hamilton's layup. Ceedric Goodwyn and Palacio then scored four points each over the next four minutes to give CSU a 15-7 lead.
Nebraska closed to within 20-18 with 6:05 left in the half. But John Sivesind hit a 3-pointer to key a 16-8 run to give CSU its 10-point halftime lead.
