Husker women's Team Earns Academic All-America Honors

LINCOLN - The Husker women's cross country team was named to the 1998 Academic All-America team by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association on March 3.

The women's team combined for a 3.67 grade point average, the second-best GPA among the Division I cross country teams. Southwest Missouri State took top team honors with a combined GPA of 3.71. The Huskers were followed by Duquesne with a 3.61 team GPA.

Nebraska was among the 53 teams who were awarded "With Distinction" for having a team GPA above 3.25 . A total of 95 of the 308 Division I teams met the qualifying standard of 3.00 for Academic All-America honors.

Liz Biehl, Kate Centerwall, Amie Finkner, Tammy Hoyt, Jenna Lucas, Melinda Mohr, Deb Osteen, Jaime Pauli, Steph Stewart, Melissa Wilson, Amy Wiseman and Jeannette Zimmer comprised the 1998 women's cross country team.
