The Longhorns got on the board at 47:56 when reserve forward Rachel Safirstein scored on a blast from nearly 30 yards out off an assist from Bonnie McAuliffe. Safirstein shot went high into the net, just past the outstretched hands of Husker goalkeeper Rebecca Hornbacher, who leaped far to her right for the attempted save. Hornbacher recorded five saves on the evening for the Huskers. After the goal, Texas withstood a furious Nebraska rally.
