The Huskers captured their first of three team tournament titles in 1989-90 with a victory at the Spartan Fall Invitational. Melissa Busskohl, Alysen Madsen, Nodjya Cook, Joanne Brooks, Susan Dougherty and Ann Guiberson combined to fire a three-round total of 933, which was the best team score in school history at the time. Later that season, the Huskers improved the record to 925 with a win at the Rio Rico-Hawkeye Invite. Joanne Brooks capped the season with a 47th-place finish at the 1990 NCAA Championships.
