Iowa City, Iowa - Nebraska pitchers Peaches James and Leigh Ann Walker combined for a three-hit shutout to lead the seventh-ranked Nebraska softball team to a 1-0 victory over Illinois-Chicago Thursday afternoon in the first game of NCAA Regional play at Pearl Field. James struck out three and did not allow an extra-base hit in 6 1/3 innings, as she improved to 21-7 on the season. Walker was credited with the save, as she struck out both batters she faced in the top of the seventh to tie the Nebraska career strikeouts record of 838. The Tucson, Ariz., now shares the record with current NU assistant Coach Lori Sippel, who set the mark in 1988.
