Snyder Claims Fourth Big 12 Championship

Norman, Okla. -- Senior Bryan Snyder became the first wrestler in Nebraska history to win four conference championships Saturday night at the 2002 Big 12 Championships in Norman, Okla. Snyder defeated fourth-ranked Shane Roller of Oklahoma State, 6-2, to capture his fourth 157-pound Big 12 title.

In the team race, the Huskers finished in fourth place with 32.5 points, while Oklahoma captured the Big 12 title with 87 points. In second place was Oklahoma State with 73 points, while Iowa State took third place with 63.5 points. Missouri finished last in the five-team field with 26.5 points.

The 157-pound final saw Snyder take a 2-1 lead into the second period, where he extended his advantage with an escape at the 1:50 mark and a takedown with 52 seconds remaining in the period. Roller cut the lead to 5-2 with an escape early in the third period, but it wasn
