Scott Fries Strikes Out 14 in 13-4 win at Kansas

Lawrence, Kan. -- Behind the left arm of Scott Fries, the Nebraska baseball team improved to 3-1 in the Big 12 Conference and 14-6 overall with a 13-4 win over the Kansas Jayhawks in front of a crowd of 311 at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan., on Friday afternoon.
Fries pitched 8.1 innings and threw 128 pitches before leaving the game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. The junior from Dannebrog, Neb., struck out a career-high 14 batters and walked just three while improving to 4-1 on the season. It was the second complete game of the year for Fries.
