Las Vegas, Nev. -- The Nebraska wrestling team took sixth place with 89 team points at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday. Minnesotacaptured the team title with 131 points.
In the 184 pound final, redshirt freshman B.J. Padden recorded the first individual championship of his career with a 9-7 victory over seventh-ranked Ralph DeNisco of Wisconsin. Padden jumped out to 4-2 lead heading into the second period when DeNisco scored three unanswered points to take a 5-4 lead with just under a minute and a half remaining in the second period. Padden then scored a takedown with one minute to regain the lead, 6-5.
DeNisco tied the match up with 20 seconds left in the second period. Heading into the final period, Padden added another takedown to regain the lead 8-6. DeNisco cut the lead to one with an escape with 40 seconds remaining in the match but it wasn
