Lincoln -- Nebraska's senior class has arguably been one of the most successful in school history. In the last four years, the four-member class of Jen French, Julie Houk, A.J. Lamb and Jess Wertz, has qualified for the Super Six Finals each season, has won three regional titles and two conferenece titles and have all garnered All-American honors during their careers.
"This is a time to thank these four hard-working women, who have contributed a tremendous amount to our program," head coach Dan Kendig said.
French, a native of Greensboro, N.C., has been solid on two events for the Huskers. A solid competitor on the balance beam, French posted seven scores of 9.875 or better this season including a season best of 9.950 at the Masters Classic, Feb. 23. In addition, French has been an incredible asset on the floor. In fact, she has scored above 9.850 in the last six meets.
Meanwhile, Houk, a standout on the uneven bars, has been an awesome force for the Huskers this season and is currently ranked 12th nationally on the event with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 9.910. A three-time All-American, Houk has posted at least a 9.90 seven times this season on bars including a season best of 9.95 at the Masters Classic, Feb. 23. Houk has also contributed on the floor exercise scoring above 9.850 four times this season including a season-high 9.90 against Michigan.
Lamb headed into the 2003 season with four NCAA All-America honors to her credit. She is one of NU's top all-arounders and been a steady performer for the Huskers all season. The Lincoln native has won six individual titles altogether in three different events, the vault, balance beam and the floor exercise scoring above 9.90 in each event win.
