No. 19 Huskers Upend No. 12 Texas A&M, 2-0
The No. 19 Nebraska soccer team posted its fourth consecutive shutout with a 2-0 win over No. 12 Texas A&M in front of 343 fans on a chilly, wet night at the Abbott Sports Complex in Lincoln.
With temperatures dipping into the low 40s and a steady rain falling, the Huskers improved to 7-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Big 12 Conference play by dominating the Aggies from start to finish. Texas A&M fell to 5-4-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in the Big 12.
Nebraska scored a quick goal at the 6:06 mark as sophomore forward Lauren Tatum stole the ball from a Texas A&M defender and fired a shot off the Aggie player over the head of goalkeeper Melanie Wilson. On the strength of the early goal, the Huskers outshot the Aggies 12-0 in the first half.
Nebraska added a goal early in the second half, as freshman midfielder Meghan Anderson fired a shot past a diving Melanie Wilson from 12 yards out on the far side that found the back corner of the net on the near side. Sharolta Nonen and Becky Hogan assisted on the insurance goal that sealed the victory for the Huskers.
