Lincoln, Neb. -- The 30th-ranked Nebraska baseball team beat Nos. 8/9 Texas 12-8 and earned a sweep of the three-game series in front of a Buck Beltzer Stadium record crowd of 3,387 fans on Sunday afternoon in Lincoln.

The Huskers who won game one of the series 11-4 and game two 9-8, finished the sweep on Sunday behind a 16-hit attack and a complete game by senior Jay Sirianni. Sirianni started on Saturday against Texas, but pitched only two thirds and did not make it out of the first inning. The senior from Indianola, Iowa, threw 135 pitches, allowed four home runs and eight earned runs, but he struck out six to improve to 4-1 on the season.

With the win, Nebraska has won 11 consecutive games and 16 of its past 17 games. NU is 20-6 overall and leads the Big 12 with an 8-1 mark. The Huskers will take the Big 12 lead into a matchup at No. 11 Texas A&M on Friday. Texas drops to 22-11 overall and 8-4 in the Big 12.
