WACO, Texas (AP) -- Eric Crouch scored three touchdowns and No. 4 Nebraska used 641 yards rushing to overcome five turnovers in sloppy conditions for a 48-7 victory over Baylor on Saturday.

Thunder Collins rushed for 165 yards as four Cornhuskers topped 100 yards.

Dahrran Diedrick rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown, Crouch had 132 yards and Josh Davies had 119 yards and a pair of TDs for Nebraska (7-0, 3-0 Big 12).

The Cornhuskers had seven fumbles, including a dropped ball in the end zone by Crouch that Baylor recovered for its only touchdown. Baylor (2-3, 0-3) has lost 24 consecutive Big 12 games dating to 1998.

Because of the turnovers, Nebraska led just 14-7 in the third before Crouch's second touchdown helped ensure the Cornhuskers' 40th consecutive winning season, second to Notre Dame's NCAA-record 42-year run from 1989-32.

The Cornhuskers broke the game open with four fourth-quarter scores.

Rain fell during much of the first half and play was suspended for 36 minutes in the second quarter because of lightning.

Unlike last year when Nebraska led 38-0 in the first quarter of a 59-0 rout, the Cornhuskers struggled to hold onto the ball in chilly and wet conditions.

Davies gave the Huskers a 7-0 lead with a 42-yard burst off left tackle. Once in the secondary, he pushed off safety Derrick Cash with a stiff-arm on the 15. Crouch's first TD, a 9-yard run, made it 14-0 in the second.

Despite churning up huge chunks of yardage on the ground, Nebraska kept hurting itself with turnovers.

Nebraska lost four fumbles in the first half, including two by Crouch, and was stopped twice on fourth-and-1, once inside the Baylor 5.

Baylor's offense, however, made little use of its chances. The Bears rank last in the league in total offense and managed just 31 yards in the first half while the game was still close.

The Bears finally got a break in the second quarter when a punt pinned Nebraska on its 1. At that point, two lightning strikes cracked through the sky and the game officials sent the teams to the locker room for 36 minutes.

Once play resumed, Crouch coughed up the ball in his own end zone and Baylor's Stephen Sepulveda fell on it to make it 14-7 at halftime.

Crouch and the Huskers finally got untracked in the third with an 11-play, 88-yard drive capped by the quarterback's 1-yard TD run that made it 21-7. Diedrick started the fourth-quarter scoring burst with an 8-yard scoring run

Crouch's three scores sent him past Tommy Frazier for most total-offense touchdowns in Nebraska history with 80. Frazier, who quarterbacked Nebraska to national championships in 1994-95, is the Baylor running backs coach.

Crouch already owns the NCAA Division I-A record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 54.

Baylor hasn't won a conference game since beating Kansas 31-24 on Oct. 10, 1998.

Greg Cicero led the Bears with 14-of-35 passing for 145 yards with two interceptions.
