Columbia, Mo. -- The second day of the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships proved successful for the Huskers as the men's team moved to second with a total of 43 points while the women ended the day in first with a total of 61.5 points.

In the first event of the morning senior Melissa Price set a new Big 12 Record, Big 12 Meet Record, Audrey J. Walton Stadium Record and personal record with a throw of 219-2 in the hammer throw. After two scratches in the finals of the hammer throw the senior from Anaheim, Calif. pulled out all the stops for her final throw, but was still disappointed in her mark.

"I thought I would throw a little farther, but I know I shouldn't be disappointed since I was able to set a new personal record as well as the Big 12 records," said Price. "My technique was a little off, in the end I guess I'm happy that I was able to pull it all together for the last throw of the day."

Husker sophomore Amanda Moreley placed second in the hammer throw setting a new personal record and NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 193-11, while juniors Vicki Janovec placed fifth with a throw of 164-10 and Jennifer Cowher set a new personal record of 158-9 to finish in eighth. Together the four women added 23 points to the Husker total.

Sophomore Carl Meyerscough faced off against the number one thrower in the nation, Missouri's Christian Cantwell, to place first in the shot put with a Big 12 Meet Record throw of 67-6
