Huskers Split with Kansas, Keep Title Hopes Alive

Lawrence, Kan. -- After dropping a 6-4 decision to Kansas, the No. 10 Nebraska softball team bounced back in game two of a doubleheader in Lawrence Saturday afternoon to defeat the Jayhawks 1-0 and keep their Big 12 Conference title hopes alive.

The Huskers (46-11 overall and 15-2 in the league) must beat Iowa State Sunday in its final conference game, set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the NU Softball Complex. An NU loss would give Oklahoma (14-2 in the Big12) the regular season crown.

NU freshman pitcher Peaches James delivered a one-hit shutout in game two to help the Huskers maintain their slim conference lead over the Sooners. James (14-4) threw six innings of no-hit ball before KU third baseman Megan Urquhart singled to center in the top of the seventh.
