Huskers Fall to Cyclones in Big 12 Semifinals

Kansas City, Mo. -- Stacy Frese scored 20 points as 11th-ranked Iowa State advanved into the championship game of the Big 12 Conference tournament with an 85-48 victory over Nebraska Thursday evening.

Frese was 4-of-6 from the field and made 3-of-5 3-pointers for the Cyclones, who improved to 24-5 and will meet Texas in Saturday's championship game.

ISU took control of the game with a 14-0 run midway through the first half and built a 40-23 halftime lead. The Huskers, who fell to 18-12 on the season, were held to just 26.5 percent shooting from the floor, as junior Casey Leonhardt was the only Husker to finish in double figures with 11 points.

NU, which defeated Baylor and Kansas to reach the semifinals, were outscored 30-13 from the foul line.

Angie Welle added 15 points and eight rebounds for ISU while Lindsey Wilson and Erica Haugen added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
