Tallahassee, Fla. -- The No. 18 Nebraska softball team extended its winning streak to nine with two victories Friday at the Messer Softball Complex on the opening day of the Tallahassee Democrat Seminole Tournament. The Huskers defeated 26th-ranked Florida Atlantic, 2-1, before blanking Bethune Cookman, 5-0.

Jamie Fuente provided NU with an offensive spark in both games. The senior first baseman produced the game-winning run against FAU with a solo shot over the leftfield fence in the fourth. Fuente smacked her second home run of the day against Bethune Cookman, a two-run blast in the bottom of the first.
