Houston, Texas - Rice starter Wade Townsend tied a career high with 12 strikeouts in eight innings, as No. 1 Rice extended its winning streak to a school-record 17 games with a 4-1 victory over No. 15 Nebraska in front of 3,359 at Reckling Park Tuesday evening.

Townsend scattered three hits, all singles, and retired the final 12 Huskers he faced to improve to 2-0 on the season, as the Owls moved to 20-1 on the season.
