Huskers Claim Big 12 Crown with 3-1 Win Over Sooners

Norman, Okla--The No. 4 Nebraska soccer team clinched the 1999 Big 12 Conference regular-season title with a 3-1 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Friday.
Nebraska, which remained the only unbeaten team in the conference with an 8-0-0 league mark and a 15-1-1 overall record, raced to a 3-0 lead early in the first half and cruised to the win, outshooting the Sooners, 23-5. Oklahoma fell to 1-8-0 in the conference and 2-13-1 overall with the loss.
Fittingly, Nebraska clinched its second regular-season Big 12 championship in history on the strength of a pair of stellar performances by sophomores from Omaha. Forward Becky Preston opened the scoring at the 8:29 mark with her second goal of the season off an assist from midfielder Meghan Anderson. The Omaha Burke graduates joined forces again less than a minute later to produce the game-winning goal, as Preston assisted on Anderson
