El Paso, Texas-The University of Nebraska rifle team took care of business Saturday at the NCAA Rifle Qualifying meet in El Paso, Texas. The Huskers fired a team score of 6,089, placing them third behind host UTEP (6,120), and Air Force (6,108). Wyoming finished fourth (5,924).
Now the Huskers will have to wait to see how the rest of the regions finish before learning of their NCAA fate, as only the top 48 competitors in each event earn berths at the NCAA Championships.
Leading the way for Nebraska was senior Amanda Trujillo, who fired a 1,161 in the smallbore to win the event. In the air rifle, she fired a 389 to tie Air Force
