A Day Of Broken Records at the Nebraska Track Meet

By NU Athletic Communications
Lincoln, Neb. -- With a total of five NCAA automatic qualifying marks and 10 NCAA provisional qualifying marks the Nebraska men's and women's track team won their first home outdoor meet of the season.

In the hammer throw senior Melissa Price broke several records with a mark of 217-8. With her furthest throw of the season Price automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships and also broke the Ed Weir Track and Field Stadium Record, the Big 12 Record and the Nebraska University All-Time Record.

"I've been stuck on one level so far this season and I couldn't break through," said Price. "I'm really happy with my throw today, but I know I can throw 220 feet. I'm just going to continue to train and get the higher mark at the next meet or at the conference."

Other NCAA automatic qualifying marks for the Huskers were set by senior Lesley Owusu in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.39; Derek Zachary in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.68, which also broke the Ed Weir Track and Field Stadium Record; and sophomore Carl Myerscough who broke two Ed Weir Track and Field Stadium records in the shot put with a throw of 67-11
