The Nebraska softball team was ranked third for the second straight week in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll released Feb. 26. However, the Huskers gained ground on second-place Arizona, which fell to Oklahoma State, 1-0, Feb. 21. After trailing the Wildcats by 30 points in the poll last week, NU is just five points behind Arizona this week.
UCLA remained in the top spot for the third straight week, receiving 19 first-place votes. Washington was fourth, followed by Texas. The Longhorns (16-0), who took the other two first-place votes, are making their first appearance in the top five this season. Other Big 12 teams listed in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll include No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 21 Texas A&M and No. 25 Baylor.
The Huskers, who are also ranked third in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, are 12-1 overall and have tied the program record for the best 13-game start in school history. NU has defeated six teams ranked in Wednesday
