Lincoln -- The No. 7 Nebraska softball team (33-11 overall and 9-6 in the Big 12 Conference) will finish its Big 12 Conference slate this weekend when it takes on Kansas at 5 p.m. Friday in Lawrence, Kan., and Missouri at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday in Columbia, Mo.

With three Big 12 games remaining, Nebraska, the preseason favorite to win the league, has been mathematically eliminated from the conference title. However, with a little help, NU could still finish as high as second in the tightly-packed top half of the standings and improve its seed for the Big 12 Tournament. The Huskers enter the weekend tied with Texas A&M for fifth place. Texas is first at 13-2, followed by Oklahoma State (12-3), Missouri (11-4) and Oklahoma (10-5). In addition to the Nebraska-Missouri series, other key weekend contests include Oklahoma State and Texas, as well as Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
