Coaches Pick Nebraska Second in AVCA Preseason Poll - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site

     Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska volleyball team was ranked second in the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I volleyball preseason poll released Monday afternoon. The Huskers, who finished the 2001 season ranked third with a 31-2 record, received 1,502 points and four first-place votes. NU trailed only defending national champion Stanford, which was the overwhelming preseason favorite with 1,610 points and 54 first-place votes.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

USC, who Nebraska will face Sept. 2 at the Ball State/Nike Classic in Muncie, Ind., was voted third with 1,445 points. Hawaii (1,349) and Long Beach State (1,300) rounded out the top five.
