Nebraska Wide Receiver Jahmal Banks Pre-UTEP Press Conference
On community service hours
“Here, it’s a lot of work with food banks, we did work with some schools, some veteran homes, aided things like hospitals. Back at my old school, at Wake Forest, I did a lot of work in schools, with elementary kids and middle school kids. It was a very impoverished community. I think Winston-Salem is in the top 50, maybe 44th in the poor cities in America. So I did a lot of good work in schools, being a good role model to the youth.”
On nerves with being on a new team and with a new quarterback
“It’s there for sure. Coach Rhule talks about you feeling the fear but being fearless. We are going to feel the emotions but let it pass. I’m not in my emotions. I know the emotions are there. It’s about playing fearless. When you play fearless, you can play to the best of your ability. I take the pressure from the media and everybody else and just negate that and put the pressure on myself to just be myself. Play my heart out.”
On how he feels about Heinrich Haarberg's athleticism
“He’s an incredible athlete. He’s coming down here. I don’t know too many people that want to go head up against Heinrich Haarberg. You are going to see that. It will be showcased.”
