Nebraska Wide Receiver Alex Bullock Pre-Purdue Press Conference

On the message to the team with the injuries
“We feel bad. We’re with those guys that got injured. Hearts are out to them but our message is next guy up. We are going to play Saturday no matter what so we have no other choice but next man up mentality.”

On Alex now being a veteran in the receiver room
“Two months ago I was the newcomer in the room. Learning from guys like Marcus (Washington) and Isaiah (Garcia-Castaneda) and Billy (Kemp IV) and all those guys go down and now I’m one of the oldest guys in the room so it’s kind of crazy how quickly things turned. Two months and I’m one of the oldest guys in the room so.”

On injured receivers helping playing receivers
“We still have those guys watching film. Last night we had all the skill guys watching film together. All those guys were up there helping some of the young guys, what they’re going to see on Saturday and stuff like that, what to expect. These guys haven’t played a lot of football, just getting them comfortable in what they’re going to do on Saturday.”

On knowing every play could be his last
“Coach Rhule delivers that message all the time. Play like this is your last play because it has been so evident this year how many guys we’ve seen go down. They don’t know if this is going to be their last game or their last play of the season, so just leave it all out there because you never know when a freak accident could happen. You could twist your knee, a freak accident like that could happen. So just go out there and play like it is your last game every time.”
