Nebraska Running Back Emmett Johnson Pre-Michigan State Press Conference

On takeaways from the Purdue game
“We had a pretty good performance but overall me personally I could do better. I could hit some runs for more yards. I really came into film trying to see things that I could get better at, I watch the good things but I think we can fix some mistakes like turnovers and things like that and get ready for Michigan State.”

On Coach E.J. Barthel
“Coach E.J. (Barthel) he has a big passion for the game of football. Before practice and after practice he’s always meeting with us to make sure we know what we’re doing on the field and I think he’s been helping me a lot throughout the whole process and at running back overall.”

On his increase in playing time
“I just kept my faith in God, even though I wasn’t playing. It was tough but I was trying to work hard in practice. I knew eventually I was going to get a shot so I just kept working for my time so I was ready for my moment. I think just working during the times I wasn’t playing helped me so that now I’m starting or playing a lot, nothing changes for me. I’m going the same way I was going before in practice.”

On the standard the team practices to
“I definitely think Coach (Matt) Rhule does a great job of having us go hard in practice so that he’s preparing, the twos and threes have to be ready to play any game. It prepares everybody to be ready to guys like Jaylen Lloyd and Malachi Coleman, those guys have to step up and it’s not a big deal because we only know one thing and it’s the standard and everybody practices to that standard.”
