Nebraska Running Back Emmett Johnson Pre-Illinois Press Conference
On challenges of Illinois’ defense
“They are a physical team. They play extremely fast. They all fly to the football. We have got a great challenge this week. I have a lot of trust in our guys. We just have to execute and focus on us and make everything about us. We’ll be just fine.”
On his performance last year against Illinois and how he’s grown as a player
“That was one of my first times getting out there, was the Illinois game. I really just was prepared for the game. So, preparing well is going to help me. Just going out there and playing physical, like I said, because this team is disciplined on defense. Just being able to break tackles, make the right reads, run through contact and keep your feet moving, things like that. I’m just excited to bring those things this year.”
On competitive spirit in the running back room
“We’re still competing every single day. Nothing is going to change with that. The whole year I’m going out there every day and practicing. I’m showing what I can do and being ready for my opportunity and most importantly making plays.”
On the 400th sellout
“It shows how loyal Nebraska fans are. It’s going to be really great to go out there. I know the fans are going to be loud but we just have to go out there and play Nebraska football and get a win for the 400th. So that will be great.”
