Nebraska Quarterback Dylan Raiola Pre-UTEP Press Conference

On his reaction to being named starter
“It was emotional, honestly. The first thing I did was call my mom and my dad. I’m very thankful for them. I wouldn't be here without them, then my brother and my sister. I made sure I called them and let them know I appreciate them very much. There’s a lot of people I could thank. It was a good conversation. It was a fun competition, I still love Danny (Kaelin). I still love Heinrich (Haarberg). They did push me every day so I can’t thank them enough for what they did and help me be where I am as well.”

On the potential of the offense
“It’s just a fun group of guys that come in every day, and then get better. We go out and practice and it doesn’t feel like a game for us. We are just out there having fun, doing our assignments at our best ability and just cutting it loose just like we’ve done here since January. It’s fun, these guys put a lot of work in and make my job easy.”

On preparing for an opener against UTEP
“I think you have to take each opponent as its own. You have to respect them. You have to study. It’s actually funny, one of our receivers was watching tape and he forgot what color UTEP was. It was a funny joke, but we are watching different stuff getting ready for UTEP. That’s a challenge, not knowing where people are going to be lined up. But we have everything we need. All of our guns are loaded and ready to fire. So whatever it takes to win is going to happen.”
