Nebraska Offensive Lineman Ethan Piper Pre-Colorado Press Conference

On how Jeff Sims is bouncing back:

“I know Jeff. He’s the type of guy that wears the weight of the team on his shoulders. He wants to succeed. I knew he would bounce back and he has phenomenally. It was his first game and first game playing at Nebraska. There’s always going to be something to clean up and it was a tough loss, but we took some positives out of it to take in the future.”

On the game overall against Minnesota:

“I think it was the first game. There’s a lot we needed to clean up, small technique issues and making sure our eyes are in the right spot with pass protection. Same balance with pass protection. We gave up two sacks in the first quarter and just making sure we are finishing on our guys. In the last play we had a fumble and we wouldn’t have if we would’ve finished on our guys.”

On the Nebraska-Colorado rivalry:

“I grew up a huge Nebraska fan. My grandpa, who’s passed away now, but he had tons of Nebraska versus Colorado stuff. I would just hear legends of the rivalry. I’m excited. I was there when we played in 2019 and I was a freshman. I didn’t play that game, so it’ll be great to play them this week.”

On the 2019 game against Colorado and this week overall:

“It was a big rivalry in 2019. The crowd didn’t like us too much. The one thing I could tell in that last time was how many Nebraska fans were there. It was just a sea of red and I’m hoping for the same this year. It’s going to be bumping. After they won against TCU and for us with our close game against Minnesota it’s going to be a good atmosphere.”
