Nebraska Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield Pre-Rutgers Press Conference
On wide receivers creating explosive plays
“They bring a lot. You have to cover the whole field when you play against us. I’m really pleased with different traits by different receivers – fast guys, big guys and the ability to push the ball down the field by the quarterback and the layers of protection that go along with that that allow him to do so.”
On drawing up plays for Jacory Barney Jr. and his arsenal of skills
“Our offensive staff is unbelievable. They’re really, really good football brains. You want to be the dumbest guy in the room when you’re in my position and I am. They come with lots and lots and lots of ideas – the players, Dylan (Raiola), Jacory, we listen to everybody. It’s fun to diagram certain things and I hope that we can continue to do that and build on the ones that we’ve done thus far.”
On how the response at Purdue can benefit the team going forward
“I think it was good to go win a road game. Whether we had to respond to anything, I don’t know. I just think we kept playing and started executing.”
On the biggest challenge of designing a run game with a non-running quarterback
“You just try to be creative. Sometimes you run it when you should throw it, you throw it when you should run it to try to keep things off balance. Based on who you’re playing, you can always find different angles, formations, motions and alignments. There’s times you have to get the ball to the perimeter in unique ways like we’ve been doing the last couple of weeks.”
