Nebraska Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield Pre-Illinois Press Conference

On the upcoming challenge from Illinois’ defense
“I think they’re very talented. They’ve got a lot of guys on the back end that have played a lot of football.Their linebackers have played a lot of football. They’ve got a very physical and lengthy front five that they play with, so it’s going to be tough to move the line of scrimmage, so we’ve got to be ready for a fist fight on Friday night. In terms of running the football and trying to move the line of scrimmage, they’re always going to have an extra hat in the box. They play a lot of man coverage, one of the things that shows up is a little bit more zone this year than they’ve played in the past. Something we’ve got to be ready for. The scheme is excellent, the players are playing really well, they’re taking the ball away. I think they’re at a plus nine turnover margin right now. We’ve got to come in ready for a fight. We’ve got to be physical, we’ve got to take care of the football.”

On preparing Dylan Raiola for conference play
“I think we just talk about it, it’s something you just need to experience. I don’t think really any words I could give him would have you prepared for what it’s going to feel like to go play a Big Ten game, and then play a stretch of Big Ten games. I think that’s just a layer of development that we’re going to have to go through with all the freshmen here in the coming weeks.”

On how Henry Lutovsky played last week
“I thought he played well, I didn’t expect him to play bad, so I don’t want it to sound like that. He lived up to expectations, he’s a physical guy, he’s got strong hands, he’s an excellent run blocker, he got out on the screen and got a knock down on Carter (Nelson)’s first screen, that was good to see. I was very pleased with how he played.”

On Heinrich Haarberg’s performance, ‘doing it all’
“We just keep working, just trying to keep writing a movie throughout this year, the different ways that we can utilize Heinrich (Haarbeg). He’s a very big, explosive athlete that can do many things, it was good to see him get out there, catch the ball. It was a pressure look, so there was a certain technique that was needed for him to get open, and he was able to do that. I think playing quarterback he knew how fast it should happen and where he should be, so that was good to see.”

On how having two quarterbacks may stress an opponent
“I have no idea, I hope it stresses them out a little bit, just having two quarterbacks out there on the field. Heinrich (Haarberg) can throw the ball, he can run the ball, he can catch the ball. We’re going to try to stress the defense as much as possible by putting him out there with Dylan (Raiola) and letting him do different things.”
