Nebraska Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield Pre-Colorado Press Conference
On execution standpoint and takeaways from UTEP
“I think our operation, although it needs to improve, was steady, it was good. Getting people on and off, we didn’t have any issues getting people on and off the field. From the penalty standpoint, we were good with the procedure penalties that slow you down and get you off schedule. Execution on third down and converting third downs was a big deal for us. To be able to run for six third downs, I think that helps. Staying on schedule helps an offense stay on the field and get a rhythm and get that feel that we had on Saturday.”
On Dylan Raiola’s performance
“The number one thing was the operation, the rhythm of the offense, and taking care of the football. He did all three of those. I thought he did. Talking about a culture of excellence, he was prepared, he knew exactly where the ball needed to go. He was accurate with the ball, took care of the ball. I was really excited to see it because I knew coming out of that tunnel walk was a lot of years, a lot of memories and a lot of days of anticipation and excitement. I was hoping that he was able to come out and just play like he does. You get nervous that sometimes a young guy tries to do too much. It’s just too emotional, but he was like a surgeon. It was amazing to see his maturity. He’s way beyond his years from that standpoint.”
On tight ends getting more involved in the passing game
“I came out of that game myself. We have to get out of the vertical concepts for those guys, especially Thomas (Fidone), with his athletic ability. So we have to continue to make an effort to find ways and different concepts to show his athletic ability.”
