Nebraska Defensive Lineman Ty Robinson Pre-Louisiana Tech Press Conference

On the rushing defense
“I just think it goes to show our process throughout fall camp and what we did to get there. I think a lot has changed with mentality on defense. I think we have always had it but we’re finally finding our identity within our core defense and within the culture as well. I take very much pride in that. It probably means more to you guys than it means to us because we are just going out there to do our job and get the ball back for the offense.”

On the amount of players playing on defense
“Coach Rhule has said from the beginning that at home games, he wants everybody to play. He has that ‘next man up’ mentality. He understood at the beginning of fall camp he said, ‘Guys we are going to get dinged up whether that be the beginning of the season or late season or whenever that is going to be.’ Someone’s ticket is going to be called and you better know what you’re doing so I’m really proud of those guys to step up and go out there and execute the plays that we have and to go out there and get our first dub.”

On the camaraderie of the defense
“We’re pretty close as a defensive unit. I mean it’s some of our fifth year playing together. On Thursdays we all go get a call sheet from Coach (Tony) White and we go watch film and we watch maybe a half or a full game on film, just going through calls on what we think might happen and then Coach White and his staff helped us out by going through the film and creating a cut-up to where he would have the most likely call from this type of play and going through situations and I just think it helps to take that out to the field because now everybody is on the same page like Coach White says he was going to call this play in the meetings that we had personally with the meetings we had with each other we talked through what we were going to do and I just think that helps us play faster.”
