Nebraska Linebacker Jimari Butler Pre-Michigan State Press Conference

On what it means to wear a blackshirt
“I mean, it shows dedication, and I’ve come a long way. I stay with it, even when coming into the season, I got hurt. It inspired me to get back.”

On why the defense is clicking so well
“We love each other. We don’t want to let each other down. I feel like it’s more of a brotherhood. Knowing that we’ve got each other’s back, it helps us play to our full potential, with no fear.”

On how he sees special teams emphasized in practice
“It’s emphasized a lot. The special teams periods are normally the same amount as the team periods. The way they emphasize the stuff that we do is amazing, on a different level. Every coach is coaching a different technique.”

On how good the team has been about seeing ways to improve
“With Coach Rhule, the standard we set, we try to top it each week. We go in as a group and we watch film and we see what they do best, and we try to take that away from them. We point out things like what they had on their big plays, and we try to minimize it as a defense, as a whole group.”
