Nebraska Linebacker Jimari Butler Pre-Northern Illinois Press Conference

On what it felt like to pick up a sack
“It felt great. It really did feel great – with the circumstance of me coming back from injury, fresh off of injury. It felt kind of good, it felt like I was getting back to my old self.”

On what playing so many guys does for the attitude of the defense
“It builds confidence. You know that the person coming in after you is going to do his job and he’s going to play to the fullest. It builds a kind of trust within the group. I feel like everybody is playing up to that standard right now.”

On the home opener underneath the lights
“It feels different. I haven’t felt that good in a minute. The fans, they do their big one every time. Coming out and seeing them, it kind of gave me a thrill and gave me a lot of adrenaline. It felt good.”

On the next step for the defense
“I feel like we have to get more takeaways as a unit. We constantly talk about it and everybody is trying to do it, but it’s still not there yet. As a defense, I feel like that’s the next step that we can take to improve.”
