Nebraska Kicker Tristan Alvano Pre-Purdue Press Conference

On the effect of the wind kicking against Northwestern
“I was feeling obviously confident going in but it’s really easy to feel confidence with the field that we have. I mean Brian (Buschini) and Marco (Ortiz) are great at what they do. It’s really easy to go out there knowing I have a really good chance to make the kicks when the snap and hold’s always there. The guys up front are up there blocking for me like always. But for me personally seeing it go through in a win like that felt great and it was awesome for me.”

On the comparison to kicking in high school to a collegiate level
“Obviously the uprights are a little narrower and that’s something that you have to get used to but we had a set of college-set uprights at Westside for me so it wasn’t a huge jump. Besides that there’s more pressure but I love it. I love the pressure so it’s all good.”

On moment during practice asking to redo the kick
“That was kind of towards the end of our warmup, we have a PAT or short field goal, it’s a punt to the returner and then after that we go into the locker room. I wanted another field rep after we headed into the locker room but Coach Rhule was like ‘go ahead and take another one but you don’t need it, you didn’t need one on a state championship night. You didn't have an extra opportunity to get ready.’ That’s what he said and it felt good to hear that.”

On the vote of confidence he received from Coach Rhule
“For sure. Just hearing it from him and being the head coach just gave me this feeling as a kicker, and I’m always going to appreciate it for sure.”
