Nebraska Defensive Lineman Ty Robinson Pre-UCLA Press Conference
On the championship mindset
“I think the standard was set even higher on Saturday. What’s great is that everyone now gets to see that standard. Everyone knows what it takes during the week and in practice to get to that type of preparation for the game. The offensive coaches, this is the first time they came to our coaches saying ‘those defensive guys on the scout team were flying around today and making plays and being aggressive and getting them better and better.’ The same thing, our scout offense has done a great job all year of getting us ready. I think that’s why we’ve been pretty dominant on defense. We just have to continue to exceed that standard every practice and every day.”
On his experience with UCLA and what he sees from the Bruins’ offense
“The Pac-12 is good football. When I would break it down in high school, they were more of a passing league. Their offense, they have good running backs, good tight ends, they have a good front. Their QBs are both mobile and can throw the ball, as well, they have great vision. I’m excited to go more in depth. This morning we got to learn some of their tendencies and start to go into depth about them. That’s what today will be about, to learn a little bit more.”
On living up to the standard
“It’s the locker room. It’s the guys. It’s the older guys, but it’s everybody in that locker room making sure – even myself, as an older guy – I told the younger guys, ‘I hope you get on me if I’m not upholding the standard or meeting the standard, the same way I would get on you.’ I’m not doing it out of spite. I’m not doing it because I enjoy it or because I’m angry. I do it because I love you and I want you to get better and I want you to produce for this team so you can go on and have a better career here than I did. I think we’re finally starting to see the tipping point of this team going into the last four games.”
