Nebraska Defensive Lineman Ty Robinson Pre-Purdue Press Conference
On Saturday’s game and his performance
“It was definitely the most confidence I had the whole game. I think I’ve seen myself this year just getting a lot better as each game comes and goes. Man there’s a lot of stuff at the end of the season that I question if I’m ready to go or not. As of right now I think just focusing on each game and making sure I continue to get better and better every week.”
On the coaching staff’s experience in the NFL and how that’s impacted the improvements
“Yeah it’s definitely a word of the wise type of deal because they’ve been real with us, like they’ll show tape, they’ll show like if you play like this then you will not be getting drafted. It’s going to bump you down or you’re just not going to be able to make it in the next level, and I think Coach Rhule has done a really great job of showing us old guys, especially kind of relaying that message to the young guys ‘Hey if you’re not going to do my way because my way has been shown to work and it’s been proven.’ If this is something you really want to do we can get you there. I think he’s done a really good job of surveying that message.”
On Saturday’s defense
“It’s a team game. Listen I love to get more tackles, I love to get more sacks, but at the end of the day it’s a team game and if we come out with a win that’s all I really care about and then if my performance helps our team out in that way then that’s fine, let Nash (Hutmacher) and Jimari (Butler) in, or whoever else makes plays if that means we can come out with a win. I’m super happy and super proud with how we played on Saturday.”
On the second-half shutout
“That was our mentality on Saturday, at least that was to me and I was trying to relay it to everyone else on the defense was that it’s 10-3 right now who cares we’re winning, we’re technically winning and if we just do what we’re supposed to do on defense then we’ll win the game 10-3. Obviously, it helps when we score points because it kind of gives us more cushion room, but it’s no reason to take our foot off the break and just keep doing what we’re doing. We didn’t get a shutout in the fourth quarter and that’s a goal for us every game. They scored a field goal so we’re not really happy about that and then we also got however many yards over a 100 rushed on us which we haven’t really allowed this whole year. I also take that personally, even though we did a lot of good things there’s still some things that wasn’t up to our standard.”
