Nebraska Defensive Lineman Jimari Butler Pre-Rutgers Press Conference
On Kyle Monangai
“His feet never stop, even after contact. He just keeps driving. That’s probably the thing that sticks out the most. He’s a smaller guy, but he’s a very powerful runner.”
On how his body feels through the first five games and how important being in shape is to stop the run
“I feel good, getting my body back. I feel like it’s going to be a statement game for me to myself, because it’s me versus me. It’s going to be a game where we’re going to have to stop the run. If I’m doing good at it, it’s going to be a testament to all the work I put in.”
On Javin Wright
“He's still been coming in. Even when he knew he wasn’t playing, he was still the same guy, putting in the same work, just like if he was coming back. Seeing him come back, it was a joyful moment because we know how much work he put in. I know how it feels to have football taken away from me for a certain amount of time, so seeing him get back out there was a joyful moment.”
On being a mentor to young players
“Oh man, I love it. They see me doing stuff and they’ll ask what I was thinking on that play, so I give them my insight on it, and they make their own plays.”
