Nebraska Defensive Coordinator Tony White Pre-Rutgers Press Conference

On Jaidyn Doss playing
“It was fun to watch him run around. He’s got a big smile on his face. The game was taken away from him for a second and you can see that every moment that he is out there it gave him a different outtake. He’s out there and he’s loving life and loving running around and being out with the guys. It’s just a reminder how you get into the groove of things and you take for granted every second you get a chance to be around the guys, be around the players and be around this place. I think he is really enjoying what he is getting to do now.”

On Kyle Monangai and Rutgers’ run game
“He is probably the best one we’ve seen to date. Contact-balance, vision, the guy does not stop his feet. The unique thing about him is his YAC (yards after contact) are yards are ridiculous. He’s getting hit at two and three yards, and when they spot the ball he’s gained six and seven. That’s between falling forward, breaking tackles, the offensive linemen hitting the pile forward, they do a really good job of finishing plays.”

On the impact of getting younger players into games
“The same way it’s helping all those guys now. You see the difference between John (Bullock) last year and now. All those snaps and experience and those instincts growing. Anytime Rio (Mario Buford) and Keona Davis and Vincent Shavers go on the field, that’s the worst they are going to look. Every snap is valuable, especially in valuable time when they are throwing the ball and running the ball and doing things at you that you are going to have to defend in the first quarter so it was good to see them play.”
