Nebraska Defensive Coordinator Tony White Pre-Ohio State Press Conference
On reviewing film from Indiana
“The guys were executing, but there were things that I didn’t like. They were completely stupid. It’s about the manner in which you do things. There are always calls you want back. At the end of the day, we need to make sure that we have that confidence and have the guys running around with their hair on fire. I didn’t do a good enough job of that last week.”
On defense’s confidence waning
“Not based on today. You sit back and you listen to Coach (Rhule) and you hear the message. That’s what I do. I sit down and listen to Coach like I am a player. That’s one of the truly great things about him is that he says ‘There’s a lot of ways you can go, but at the end of the day, you have another offense, one of the best teams in the entire country.’ This is life. We are teaching life lessons. You’re not always going to get the job you want. That’s not always going to happen but it’s how you respond to everything and how you learn from it. So, this is one of those examples and it’s our job we get the jobs going.”
On how to win 50/50 balls
“It’s everything. It’s called, don’t put them out there so much. In 50-50, it’s working the technique, trusting the guys can go do it. On the technical side, at the very beginning, is your stance or you’re on the right leverage? Are you doing the right things? So, you’re breaking it down to every little aspect to make them feel confident.”
